Former USC Trojan Dewayne Dedmon to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers

After working out for the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, reports indicate former USC big man Dewayne Dedmon is set to sign a 10-day contract with the team.

Dedmon appeared in four games with the Golden State Warriors before they waived him in December.  Dedmon then joined the Warriors’ NBA Development League affiliate, which is based in Santa Cruz, Calif.

In 17 games with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Dedmond averaged 15.2 points per game on 54% shooting from the field, and 13.5 rebounds per game.

Dedmon surprised many when he announced his decision to forgo a senior season in favor of the 2013 NBA Draft.

A player former Trojan coach Kevin O’Neill once referred to as first-round pick, Dedmon averaged just 6.7 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game in his final season at USC.

Standing at 7-0 and 255 pounds, Dedmon has the physical tools needed to succeed in the NBA, it’s a matter of him being able to put it all together on the court.

Dedmon is the 12th player to get called up from the D-League and is the first in the 2013-2014 season to be called up twice.
