It was the year in which Pat Haden bore the bulk of the responsibility, while being a year that sanctions took most of the blame.
It was the year Lane Kiffin was terminated, Kevin O’Neill relieved of his duties and Cynthia Cooper-Dyke became the school’s prodigal daughter.
It was the year of opposites, status quos and a surprising win at Pauley Pavilion with a team we dubbed “The Fighting Cantus”.

From the admirable Ed Orgeron to the generous Dr. Dre, it was the year when Fight On became more than just a name of a fight song or two-fingered salute.
It was the year when a school so overly concerned about the maintaining of comfortable traditions wasn’t afraid to look silly on national television to prove a point, and come together as a family in a year when nothing went to plan.
2013 was the year USC fought on. And onto 2014 the Trojans go, with hopes of proving that all of this year’s fighting wasn’t much ado about nothing.
