USC vs. Dayton: Pe'Shon Howard Seals First Trojan Road Win With Overtime Buzzer Beater

Pe’Shon Howard’s three-pointer with one second left in overtime gave USC their first road win of the season, 79-76 against Dayton this afternoon.

Howard sank his third triple of the game in that key moment, finishing his day with 12 points and four assists, as the Trojans secured their eighth win of the season under Andy Enfield.

Minutes earlier, Byron Wesley’s lay up tied the game at 69-69 to force the extra period.

Wesley continued his strong form this season, leading all scorers with 26 points. He added a game-high ten rebounds.

The Flyers were led by Jordan Sibert’s 21 points, including five three-pointers. Forward Dyshawn Pierre added 16 points and ten rebounds as well. Freshman Nikola Jovanovic contributed 12 points and seven rebounds.

Midway through the first half, Dayton took control of the game with a nine-point lead but USC surged back to close the gap at the half. The Flyers took a 37-32 lead into the break.

Dayton stayed on top for most of the second half as well. Trading points as time wound down, free throws from Jalen Robinson gave the Flyers a two-point edge before Wesley’s layup forced extra time.

In overtime, Howard hit a three with just over a minute to go, then logged the game winner after a free throw from Devin Oliver tied the game.

With the win, USC improved to 8-4, while Dayton dropped their third game of the season and now stand 9-3.
