After announcing his commitment via Twitter on Dec. 11, junior college defensive tackle Claudeson Pelon (Orlando, Fla./Mesa Community College) is officially a USC Trojan.
USC head coach Steve Sarkisian has announced the first member of the 2014 recruiting class: DL Claude Pelon, a 6-5, 285-pound JC transfer.

Pelon’s pledge to USC was the second Steve Sarkisian secured as head coach of the Trojans, and it was also the second commitment of the day, coming roughly one hour after Jonathan Lockett’s.
However, as with the other early enrollees, Pelon’s paperwork couldn’t be processed until Wednesday.
At 6′ 5″, Pelon is rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com, and according to ESPN, is the 21st ranked junior college player.
Although Pelon’s route is a bit more unconventional than previous recruits, he is a native of Orlando, Fla. and is yet another player to from the sunshine state to end up on the west coast as a Trojan.
Pelon had scholarship offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Florida State, Georgia, and Texas, among others.
If Morgan Breslin’s success is any indication, the Trojans may be gaining another productive junior college transfer who can help anchor the defensive line.
