If there’s one pipeline that doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, it’s Mater Dei to USC. With current players like Max Wittek and Victory Blackwell, and former stars Matt Leinart and Matt Grootegoed, it’s a powerful link for the Trojans.
Could it continue in 2014? Perhaps.
Jonathan Lockett, a 4-star corner out of Mater Dei is currently committed to Washington, but could be in limbo with the gradual departure of the staff, following Steve Sarkisian’s hiring at USC.
The Trojans have already snagged Lockett’s main recruiter in defensive backs coach Keith Heyward, and could add defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox.
As Scout recruiting analyst Greg Biggins points out, Lockett very well could be on USC’s radar despite not currently being offered.
USC never offered Lockett but you have to think one could be coming with the way he played this year and his DB coach (Heyward) coming over

After news of Sarkisian’s hiring came out on Monday, and since then, Lockett tweeted that he wasn’t sure about his commitment to Washington.
On Wednesday, Lockett tweeted a cryptic tweet around the same time that Heyward was confirmed to be joining Sarkisian at USC.

The Trojans’ class currently stands at 10 commitments, with nine spots available in a sanction-reduced class. Lockett is the 197th-ranked recruit, per Rivals.
