On the very first play of the second half, Buck Allen fumbled the ball and Colorado’s Jared Bell scooped it up. He ran it back for a 31-yard touchdown, getting the Buffs on the board and giving them new life as well.
It did not last long, however.
USC gained its composure though on its next drive. Allen made up for his fumble when he took the hand off and burst through the first level and earned a 46-yard gain. Tre Madden and Ty Isaac chipped in to keep the drive alive, with Isaac stumbling across the first-down marker inside Buffs territory. On 3rd-and-3, Cody Kessler rolled out of the pocket and hit tight end Randall Telfer in the endzone for a 10-yard touchdown pass.
George Uko laid a big sack on Sefo Liufau on Colorado’s next offensive drive, hyping up the Trojans even more. Another quick three and out for the Buffs brought the USC offense back onto the field, and with good fiend position, thanks to a decent punt return from Nelson Agholor.
The Trojans strung together a four-play, 43 yard touchdown drive, punctuated by Allen, who broke some ankles and took names en route to a 23-yard touchdown run. It was his third touchdown on the night, and this marks the third game this season he scored at least three touchdowns.
USC has 331 yards of offense heading into the fourth quarter, and very much so in control of this game.
