The USC Trojans find themselves in a hole against the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona at the half, trailing 40-30.
Quinton Upshur and Aaseem Dixon have led the way with 15 apiece for the Lumberjacks. Dixon is an other-worldly 5-6 from three-point range.
By comparison, no USC player has made a single three despite eight attempts.
Byron Wesley, leads all scorers with 16 points on 7-7 shooting. He also has pitched in a game-best six rebounds.
Omar Oraby has been surprisingly quiet with just four points despite a considerable height advantage over even the tallest Northern Arizona player. He has, however, logged three blocks.
It was neck and neck in the early goings, then, midway through the half Upshur and Dixon got hot. Upshurs first long range hit gave the Lumberjacks a 19-17 lead. Dixon matched him with another three and Northern Arizona was off to the races, pulling forward as far as a 12-point lead.
Wesley scored USC’s final five points, keeping the deficit from growing further by driving to the hoop with ease.
Just like the last game, J.T. Terrell failed to score in the first half, going 0-3 from three-point range.
Removing Welsey’s perfect shooting percentage, the Trojans are shooting just 25% from the field compared to Northern Arizona’s 38%.
