Southern California’s top men’s basketball recruit, Stanley Johnson, could be reportedly set to make his college decision on Friday, choosing between a list of schools that include the USC Trojans, Arizona Wildcats and Kentucky Wildcats. Johnson, the third-ranked recruit in the nation according to Rivals, was listed by ESPN’s ticker as a featured decider in an ESPNU special featuring some of the nation’s top players.
Steve Jones of the Louisville Courier-Journal noted the announcement late Tuesday night.
The scroll promoting a 4 p.m. EST Friday signing-week special on ESPNU said four of the top 10 players in the country would be announcing their decisions on the broadcast. The first three – Jahlil Okafor, Tyus Jones and Cliff Alexander – have been common knowledge for a couple days. It also listed Johnson as set to announced, saying he was down to Arizona, Kentucky, Florida and Southern California.
Jones did note that Johnson himself had not confirmed the decision appointment.
The Mater Dei small forward has been linked to USC for a while, but the Trojans didn’t become a serious contender until head coach Andy Enfield hired Tony Bland away from San Diego State in the offseason.
Johnson’s made several visits across the country, with official visits registered at Arizona in September, Kentucky in October and at USC on November 1st.
