Former Memphis head coach Tommy West said in the Los Angeles Times this week, “[Clay Helton]‘s got some spread in him.” That’s in reference to Helton’s time as an offensive assistant and coordinator under West at Memphis, during which time Helton ran a spread offense. The question now is whether the Trojans with Helton in charge of the offense, will have some spread in them too.
