The preseason recognitions continue to pile up for USC linebacker Hayes Pullard and defensive end Morgan Breslin, as on Monday they were named to the Rotary Lombari Award watch list. This award is given to either the nation’s top lineman or linebacker.
According to the official release, The Rotary Lombardi watch list is comprised as follows:
The candidates earned a place on the preliminary watch list by earning All-American honors, being
named to their respective all-conference teams or receiving 2013 pre-season honors. The Rotary
Lombardi Award Watch List will be updated prior to the start of the 2013 season in order to
identify other players who have received significant pre-season honors.
For Breslin and Pullard, meeting the early qualifications was a no-brainer.
In its 44-yer history, the Rotary Lombari Award has only been given to one Trojan: Bruce Buddie, in 1979.
This is the fourth preseason watch list that Breslin has been named to, including the Bronko Nagurski Award, Bednarik Award and Outland Trophy. For Pullard it is his third; he is also in contention for the Nagurski Award, as well as the Butkus Award watch list.
