One of the football recruiting world’s most sought-after recruits is in Los Angeles this morning, as five-star running back Leonard Fournette is one of a number of recruits at USC’s Rising Stars Camp, held at Howard Jones Field today and Wednesday.
Fournette is the consensus No. 1 running back in the country among recruiting services, while taking the top overall spot in the ESPN 300, No. 2 in the Top 247 and No. 3 in the Rivals 100.
The New Orleans native has long been considered to be bound for Alabama or in-state LSU, but, Fournette told AL.com last week that his recruitment was completely open and mentioned powers Michigan and Texas as teams that piqued his interest.
Fournette hasn’t been shy about getting out on recruiting trips either, having gone to Florida State for Junior Day, and passing through Austin to take in Texas’s spring practice back in March. After visiting USC’s campus this week, Fournette will head to Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. for The Opening, which begins Sunday.
Currently, the Trojans don’t seem to be anywhere close to reeling in Fournette, though Lane Kiffin’s coaching staff will be sure to get in a good look.
Other players visiting the Rising Stars Camp include all five Class of 2014 commits, and top local targets Adoree’ Jackson and Damien Mama.
