USC football coach Lane Kiffin is no stranger to recruiting tactics, having snared a slew of five-star talent in his current stay with the Trojans. On Wednesday, highly touted defensive back Adoree’ Jackson tweeted a photograph of a recruiting pitch from Kiffin, which came in the form of a poster puzzle with all but one piece present.
Jackson’s response? “Am I that missing piece?” Kiffin likely says yes, considering that the Trojans out of a slew of defensive backs at the moment, including the top California prospect from 2013, Su’a Cravens.
The poster, signed by Kiffin, is just one of the ways that coaches are going after recruits, but consider the Trojans to be ahead of the curve. This year, Mississippi State has made a trend of sending exceedingly awkward and borderline awful letters to recruits, which might make a puzzle a little more visually stimulating.
As for Jackson, he has the Trojans right in the thick of things, since getting an offer earlier in the year. Currently, 247Sports’s profile of Jackson has the Trojans as the leader in the clubhouse, given his visits to multiple spring camp practices. Jackson is ranked No. 11 in the FanSided 150, and is the top player in the state according to Rivals.
