USC Spring Camp: 04/02 Notes

The USC Trojans held their tenth practice of spring camp on Tuesday, a spirited one that got testy towards the end. In addition to a scuffle, the injuries continue to mount as a couple of athletes left practice today after getting hurt. Beyond that however, it was another good practice for the Men of Troy.

Here are the quick hits from Tuesday’s practice:

  • WR George Farmer hurt his left knee attempting to make a catch early in practice and was carted off the field. Per beat writer Rahshaun Haylock, the wide receiver will have an MRI Wednesday morning.
  • S Demetrius Wright also left practice early due to injury, and WR Marqise Lee is still being kept out. In total, head coach Lane Kiffin said that 19 athletes missed practice on Tuesday.
  • At the end of practice, a brief but testy scuffle broke out. OLB Devon Kennard dropped RB Buck Allen to the ground, and other players ultimately got involved. DL George Uko came up from the tussle with a bloody nose, but told the media that there were “no hard feelings” when all was said and done.
  • Kiffin commented on Andy Enfield joining the ranks of Troy as the new men’s basketball coach, saying it was a “great hire” for the basketball program. Kiffin also told the media that he spoke to Enfield on Sunday.
  • Serra High’s Dwight Williams and Adoree Jackson watched USC’s practice from the sidelines today.
  • The Trojans meet again on Thursday afternoon at Howard Jones Field for the next installment of spring camp. This practice will be open to the public.
