The Trojans held their eighth practice of spring camp of Thursday. Not much happened in the way of headlines, but it was overall a good practice according to USC head coach Lane Kiffin.
Here are the quick hits:
Kiffin told the media that TE Xavier Grimble will miss the rest of spring camp because of a “fractured chest”. Grimble sustained the injury to in camp, the week before the Trojans went on spring break. At the time, it was said he possibly had fractured his ribs. Expect Grimble to be back come the fall.
RB Justin Davis was named MVP of Thursday’s practice. He has been one of the most impressive players thus far through the spring, and he is continuing to use his increased reps wisely while starting RB Silas Redd is is recovering from a torn meniscus.
Of Max Browne, Lane Kiffin said that the freshman QB had his best practice today. He completed a very nice, deep pass to WR George Farmer during scrimmage time.
Kiffin also quipped that LB Hayes Pullard has emerged as a new leader of this Trojan squad. “He made a decision that this was going to be his defense,” Kiffin said.
The Trojans hold their third scrimmage of camp on Sat., Mar. 30, at 11:00 a.m. in the Coliseum. This scrimmage is not open to the public.
