USC Spring Camp: 03/26 Notes

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

USC resumed camp after a week off for spring break, and it was a relatively mild day for the Trojans. A few athletes continue to sit out with injury, while others are already back to work establishing a presence for this year.

Here are the quick hits from Tuesday’s practice:

  • LB Lamar Dawson earned the title of Practice MVP. “[He's] probably the most improved player through seven practices,” Lane Kiffin said after practice.
  • WR Marqise Lee again sat out today because of a knee injury he sustained two weeks ago. He told told the media that he’s close to returning, however.
  • QB Max Wittek returned to practice after missing a week for a knee injury. After practice, he said he felt a little sore and rusty, but “good overall.”
  • DB Su’a Cravens, CB Devian Shelton, DL J.R. Tavai and DL Cody Temple have also returned from injuries.
  • TE Xavier Grimble (ribs) and CB Kevon Seymour are still out, however.
  • On Wednesday, USC will host its Pro Day and former quarterback Matt Barkley as well as a number of other Trojans will be working out for NFL Scouts. Barkley plans to throw publicly for the first time since Dec., when he separated his shoulder against UCLA. Pro Day starts at 11:15, and will be covered by ESPN3 and NFL Network.

The Trojans will have their next practice of the week on Thursday, which will be open to the public. On Saturday, Mar. 30, USC will have its third scrimmage of the spring.
