USC begins Spring Ball next week, and unlike in recent years, fans will be able to get inside the Wall of Troy this spring and check out the action in person.
The dates for all of USC’s spring practices are:
March 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 26, 28, 30
April 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13
Each Tuesday and Thursday practice will be held on campus at Howard Jones Field, and will begin at 4 p.m. Currently, the Saturday practices are to be held at the Coliseum with the start times set for 2 p.m. (Mar. 9), 9 a.m. (Mar. 16), and 11 a.m. on Mar. 30 and Apr. 6. These times are all subject to change.
Because of NCAA sanctions, USC has held closed practices for the past few years, with the exception being select media and family members. This year, the Trojans will peel the cover back slightly and allow fans to watch eight spring practices from a designated viewing area at the Dedeaux Field plaza, which is across from Howard Jones. Fans still can’t actually step inside the practice field, but this is a start. The first 200 fans will be admitted access to the viewing deck for the Mar. 5, 7, 9, 14, 26, 28 practices, as well as those on Apr. 4, 9 and 11.
During Spring Ball, USC will also hold Pro Day on Mar. 27. Matt Barkley is slated to throw before a number of NFL scouts at this event, for the first time since he injured his shoulder in December. Barkley has said he will throw to Robert Woods, Curtis McNeal, Dominique Byrd and Brandon Carswell at Pro Day.
USC’s spring game will take place on Apr. 13 at 1 p.m. in the Coliseum.
