USC released its spring roster on Thursday morning, featuring the names of new coaches as well as the seven early enrollees that the Trojans added to their ranks in January.
Of note:
- Quarterback Max Browne will retain his number from high school and wear No. 4.
- Defensive Back Josh Shaw switches from No. 26 to No. 6, and safety Gerald Bowman also had a number switch, from No. 27 to No. 13.
- Tre Madden, who was No. 13 last year, is now No. 23.
- Newbies Su’A Cravens, Darreus Rogers, Kenny Bigelow, Chris Hawkins, Justin Davis and Leon McQuay will wear: No. 21, No. 26, No. 95, and No. 29, respectively, while Davis and McQuay will both don No. 22.
Defensive tackle Christian Heyward, defensive end Devante Wilson and tight end Junior Pomee are not listed on the spring depth chart. The university has yet to specify the situation regarding Heyward, but Pomee’s future with Troy seems bleak after being arrested and charged with felony theft this offseason. Regarding Wilson, a player on the team told Reign of Troy that, “no one has seen [Wilson] since he got hurt,” referring to the injury and subsequent surgery Wilson underwent near the beginning of last season.
As far as the coaches go, John Baxter is listed as the Associate Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator, and both Clay Helton and new addition Tommie Robinson are listed as Passing Game Coordinators in addition to their specific position that they coach. Mike Summers, the new offensive line coach will double as the Running Game Coordinator, and for now, Clancy Pendergast will coordinate the defense as well as coach the secondary.
