The recruiting of Ty Isaac had a couple of bumps along the way, but in the end, the five-star running back from Joliet Catholic in Joliet, IL has signed a letter of intent with Lane Kiffin and the USC Trojans.
Issac committed to USC back in April along with four-star running back Justin Davis, who has been enrolled at USC since January. Isaac was set to join Davis as an early enrollee but an academic accounting issue at Joliet Catholic forced Isaac to stay in Illinois and complete a final set of high school requirements.
Both Michigan and Notre Dame made runs at Isaac in the last few months with in-home visits included, but a total of four tips to USC secured Isaac’s commitment to the Trojans. Isaac visited first visited USC unofficially during spring break last March, and then for the September 22nd game against Cal. He joined the early enrollees for an official visit on December 7th and came to Los Angeles this past weekend for an unofficial visit that put the finishing touches on his recruitment and commitment.
With Isaac and Davis on board for 2013, they’ll add depth to a backfield anchored by soon-to-be senior Silas Redd and junior D.J Morgan. Isaac is the fifth five-star running back to sign with USC in the last decade, a list that includes
Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush and Heisman hopeful Dillon Baxter.
