This morning, we mentioned how Mike Farrell of Rivals had pegged Notre Dame as a favorite for five-star defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes. Now, USCFootball.com recruiting analyst Gerard Martinez is reporting that Lane Kiffin’s Trojans are out of the mix for Vanderdoes.

USC was the favorite for Vanderdoes early in his recruiting, causing him to commit in July. Then, after his December de-commitment, the Trojans fell off, only to rally after the official visit on January 18th.
According to Vanderdoes’s father, the academic presentation that USC showed the recruits on the official visit ‘blew [the Vanderdoeses] away’, a sentiment echoed by Leon McQuay III and his family a month prior.
Following that visit, Vanderdoes headed to both Notre Dame and Alabama for his last visits, likely making them the favorites for him as a virtue of having the last word.
Eddie Vanderdoes will make his formal college decision before an audience of family, peers and media at 5 p.m. this evening at Placer High School in Auburn, CA. At this point, it would be a major upset if he donned a cardinal and gold cap.
