The USC Class of 2013 took a hit this afternoon, as 4-star defensive end Jason Hatcher de-committed from Lane Kiffin’s Trojans.
Hatcher is the 7th ranked defensive end per Rivals, and is ranked 221 in their final Rivals 250 rankings, which were released today.
On Twitter, Hatcher said his recruitment was ‘wide open’ following his de-commitment from USC, though he’s now expected to decide between the Kentucky Wildcats, Florida Gators and his hometown Louisville Cardinals.
Hatcher visited USC this past weekend along with a slew of other Trojan commits and targets, and he will wrap up the recruiting season with visits to Florida this weekend and Louisville next weekend.
Hatcher’s teammate at Trinity High School, 4-star receiver James Quick, is committed to staying home and playing for Louisville, which may make Charlie Strong’s Cardinals the favorite at the moment for Hatcher.
With Hatcher out of the mix, the Trojans’ recruiting class now stands at 13 commits, as he’s the sixth player to de-commit from USC since Novemeber when Max Redfield announced the opening of his recruitment.
Four open spots remain for Kiffin before Signing Day on February 6, and USC is still pursuing linemen A’Shawn Robinson, Eddie Vanderdoes and Kylie Fitts. Vanderdoes visited USC this past weekend, while Fitts spent the weekend in Westwood visiting UCLA and raved about it on Twitter.
