In a shocking turn of events, DL Kylie Fitts tweeted Tuesday that he has officially decommitted from USC.

This move comes as a surprise to the Trojan community, as Fitts–as well as six other commits–had faxed in their official documents to enroll at USC in December. As late as one week ago, Fitts seemed 100-percent solid on the Trojans and was looking forward to enrolling later in January.

The former early-enrollee just participated in the Army All-American Bowl, and though he was hurt and missed much of the practices, he did see some game time. At no point then did he indicate he was wavering in his commitment.

Fitts has given no official reason as to why he changed his mind so late in the game, but the fact that he decommitted after signing his financial aid documents would suggest that there may be some major factors that motivated him to open up his recruitment process.

With Fitts, USC has now lost four commits from the Class of 2013.

UPDATE: USCFootball.com’s Gerard Martinez tweeted that Fitts said “news that broke yesterday [Monday] caused him to reconsider his commitment.
