Today may be a day of reckoning for USC’s 2013 recruiting class, as safeties Leon McQuay III and Max Redfield are set to announce their college decisions at tonight’s Under Armour All-American Game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
McQuay is expected to decide between USC, Florida State, Vanderbilt, Oregon and Michigan and plans on being an early enrollee. Should he choose the Trojans, he would be the seventh early enrollee of the class and would begin classes on January 14th, the day the spring semester begins.
The Tampa native, McQuay, visited USC back on December 15th along with defensive lineman Kenny Bigelow. Academics play a big role in his decision and during his visit, McQuay had successful meetings with faculty from USC’s Thornton School of Music.
For Max Redfield, it’s very much USC vs. Notre Dame, although Oregon has tried to pry themselves in as a third party. He committed to Troy back in July along with a slew of other blue chip recruits, but an October trip to South Bend for the Notre Dame-Stanford game opened his eyes and forced a de-commitment that came in early November. As of now, Redfield seems to be leaning to Notre Dame.
In addition to McQuay and Redfield, USC running back commit Ty Isaac will be suiting up in the Under Armour Game, along with recent de-commitment, Sebastian LaRue.
The game is set to kickoff at 2:00 p.m. Pacific time and will be televised live and in color on ESPN.
