Earlier, we mentioned that Tee Martin was in Knoxville, presumably to interview with new Tennessee head coach Butch Jones for a staff position. Late this afternoon, it’s been confirmed by Evan Woodbery of Knoxville News Sentinel and GoVolsXtra.com. Here’s what he had to say on Twitter:
Tee Martin says he will fly back to LA tomorrow to consider the offer he received from Butch Jones. “We’ll see what happens,” he said.

Tee Martin said he was offered the job a couple of days ago. Today was just a chance for “getting to know each other” with Butch Jones.

Tee Martin said he could tell “things were headed in the right direction” at UT. About the seriousness of his interest, he said “I’m here.”

Tee Martin said he’s very happy at USC and was not actively looking to leave. Said he’s proud of Trojans’ recruiting class.

Tee Martin said he would discuss UT job offer with his wife and family and “make a decision for the right reasons.”

There’s plenty of reasons to return to Knoxville for sentimental reasons and the drive to repair a program that has fallen on hard times. But as Woodbery mentioned, for Martin to head east, it would have to be a solid family decision.
Martin is married to ‘Toya’, an R&B singer who hasn’t released a single in a decade. But with her ties to the entertainment industry and two young boys, including Cannon who was born early this year, Los Angeles has benefits for the family. It’ll be an interesting decision for Martin, especially if what Scott Wolf claims is true.
Then there’s always the ‘where to go from here?’ question that USC would be left with, should Martin depart. An early front-runner for the gig? Perhaps USC alum and hero Keary Colbert, who was a graduate assistant under Kiffin in 2010.
