USC Football: Coach Tee Martin to Decide on Tennessee Job Offer

Earlier, we mentioned that Tee Martin was in Knoxville, presumably to interview with new Tennessee head coach Butch Jones for a staff position. Late this afternoon, it’s been confirmed by Evan Woodbery of Knoxville News Sentinel and GoVolsXtra.com. Here’s what he had to say on Twitter:

There’s plenty of reasons to return to Knoxville for sentimental reasons and the drive to repair a program that has fallen on hard times. But as Woodbery mentioned, for Martin to head east, it would have to be a solid family decision.

Martin is married to ‘Toya’, an R&B singer who hasn’t released a single in a decade. But with her ties to the entertainment industry and two young boys, including Cannon who was born early this year, Los Angeles has benefits for the family. It’ll be an interesting decision for Martin, especially if what Scott Wolf claims is true.

Then there’s always the ‘where to go from here?’ question that USC would be left with, should Martin depart. An early front-runner for the gig? Perhaps USC alum and hero Keary Colbert, who was a graduate assistant under Kiffin in 2010.

We need Tee. I hope he makes the best decision for him though. He will be missed if he goes. This would be a big loss. Pay the MAN Pat. If you can pay Monte 1.5 million, you can pay Tee close to 3/4 of a million.
