The Trojans convened for day two of their preparation for Arizona State, the team chosen to face the Trojans who are coming off two consecutive losses, and on Homecoming no less. With three games left it is critical for USC to win them all to play in the Pac-12 Championship game, and that fact is not lost on this team.

Here’s Wednesday’s rundown:

  • Defensive Line Coach Ed Orgeron, who we rarely hear from, offered today that the team’s mental state right now could be described as a “touchy situation,” all things considered. He took responsibility saying he didn’t put the players in the best position to succeed.
  • Coach O also noted that Oregon ran some plays that were not used in the Ducks previous games this season
  • Defensive Coodinator Monte Kiffin also earned some media face time today. He started by joking about not reading the LA Times when asked about the criticism he faced. He also took responsibility for the poor play.
  • Kiffin said he can see the defensive excitement out on the practice field. The defense has been shredded for over 1000 yards in the past two games, and is looking to get back to the defense that was
  • A sizzle reel for Marqise Lee’s Heisman campaign came out of the university today. Kiffin said he didn’t have anything to do with the Marqise Lee Heisman video but he is playing as well as anyone in the country.
