Twitter Tuesday: Bruins And Trojans Stage Twitter War

Alright gang, it’s time to board the Twitter Express! Join us while we peruse some of the best bits from your favorite Trojans. Remember, retweets are not endorsements, and neither are embeds. So punch your tickets, and let’s get this show on the road:

This particular edition of Twitter Tuesday is brought to you by College Rivalries. A UCLA athlete fired shots at USC WR Robert Woods, setting Twitter ablaze with a serious of juicy comebacks. Please enjoy this beef as much as all who saw it live did.

No casualties took place as a result of the Twitter War, but a few egos were surely bruised.

Enter UCLA DB Randall Goforth, jabbing USC WR Robert Woods.

Woods came back and hit him with a haymaker!

Because fake accounts are never followed by athletes and never have more than 12 followers. The hell is this? I never criticize other FanSided writers, but that last bit is the single fan-iest crap I’ve ever read, and it blows up the whole issue more than it’s supposed to.

I mean, he’s spamming the goddamn players for followbacks. No shit some are going to be following them.

To be fair, there were multiple media members speculating that it was real. So don’t act like this was strictly ‘fan’ oriented.

It is. Want to know the only place this came out of? Scott Enyeart, Lisa Horne, and Reign of Troy. Meanwhile, Edward Lewis at BSR — who covers UCLA — called it EARLY, saying it was fake right at the beginning. Did anyone listen to the goddamn beat writer for UCLA at Rivals? Nope.

And so Fake Goforth tweets it’s not a fake, but guess what Goforth told beatwriters (in person)? He doesn’t have a Twitter account. So now what? So now those “media members” who were clear SC leaners (Lisa Horne, Scott Enyeart)? They look like damn fools.

There’s nothing wrong with being fan-biased (I am openly biased towards UCLA, although you know I’m also as critical of UCLA as anyone), but when you have the standard that RoT has set for itself? High-quality, objective analysis that goes unrivaled in the USC blogosphere? On-point talking points, balanced criticism of USC athletics? Things like this tend to be egregious, albeit aberrant.

Carlos, relax. It was a funny twitter beef and at the time of writing, there was much speculation about its validity. Throw a fit if you want to, but you look like a petulant child and are bringing even more attention to it.

And no one looks like a “fool”, except you, because you are the only one who cares enough about it being real or not. Either way it happened, it got people riled up (including you and your staff) and so it’s fair game.

Read it, laugh, and move on.

Petulant child? I’ve been railed on for talking trash about SC like you cannot imagine by certain Reign of Troy editors, and I look like a petulant child? Who the hell are you to tell me I look like a petulant child? You have *nothing* at all to say in that regard.

(Meanwhile, personal attacks — like, y’know, “petulant child” — haven’t been made on my end, and I was actually keeping on the topic of the post, but then we started with these baseless “petulant child” remarks.)

Haha, alright Carlos. Carry on your crusade if you must.
