USC Football Recruiting: Max Redfield Considering Decommitting from Trojans

Mission Viejo safety and Class of 2013 USC commit Max Redfield had a monster game on Friday night, including a touchdown catch and a blocked punt. But for the Trojans and in the recruiting world, the biggest news could be the word that a decommitment is coming soon, per Scout’s Greg Biggins.

Redfield visited Notre Dame three weekends ago for the Stanford game, and since the trip to South Bend, he’s been tied to more recruiting trips, as mentioned by Biggins.

The Irish appear to be the big competitor to the Trojans, and back at the time of the visit, our colleagues at Slap the Sign noted Redfield’s admiration for South Bend and its atmosphere.

USC’s Class of 2013 can’t get any bigger due to sanctions levied on the program, and since the class is already over the limit, it can only shrink. If Redfield is to decommit, he would be the first Trojan prospect to do so in the Class of 2013.

His decommitment also could play into the Trojans’ pursuit of Tahaan Goodman, as ESPN’s Blair Angulo reported that Chris Hawkins’s teammate will visit USC, in addition to LSU and UCLA.
