USC Trojans at Stanford Cardinal
Stanford Stadium | Palo Alto, CA
4:30 PM Pacific | FOX
All-time Series: USC 58-28-3
Last meeting: Stanford 56, USC 48 3OT in 2011
The Trojans head north to the new Stanford Stadium for the fourth time, and look to prevent the 21st ranked Cardinal from beating Troy for the fourth straight meeting, for the first time in the history of the series. USC comes off an interesting game against Syracuse that showed glimpses of what the Trojans’ playmakers can do, but a very conservative offensive plan coupled with poor play in the secondary allowed the Orange to give the Trojans a scare in the third quarter. Lane Kiffin’s squad ultimately weathered the storm and put the Orange away comfortably, a sign of what title contenders do. Stanford on the other hand comes in after railroading Duke to a 50-13 score, just one week after struggling with pseudo-rival San Jose State. The Cardinal have slowly been breaking in Josh Nunes at quarterback and despite losing their top three receiving targets from a year ago, Stanford returns Stepfan Taylor, who has shown he can be one of the best backs in the country when he’s on his game, giving their offense some fire power. The last two meetings went down to the wire, are we in for a third?
