I apologize if somehow anybody thought I was misleading them. By far, I had no intent of misleading anybody. I was simply answering the question that one of you guys asked me in reference to, if I was that person (Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez). I apologize if somebody took that the wrong way. I didn’t mean for it to go that way. We have informed them, we have just made a decision not to continue voting. They said it was not an inconvenience because of it being so early; it would be easy to replace us. That’s all I have to say on it.

He said he wished he hadn’t agreed to vote in the poll to begin with, like his predecessor Pete Carroll. There isn’t enough time in his schedule to watch all the other top-25 contenders around the country and rank them appropriately.

USC basketball coach Kevin O’Neill has listed his Downtown Los Angeles condo for sale and moved to Coronado Island near San Diego, he told ESPNLosAngeles.com on Monday night. He has been making the four-hour round-trip commute from Coronado to USC for nearly two months now, he said, using the time alone in his car to catch up on phone calls to recruits and other basketball-related people. He leaves his home at either 4 a.m. or 9 a.m. to avoid traffic and heads back around 8 or 9 p.m. each day.

Max Tuerk, a freshman who played at Santa Margarita High, also took snaps at left tackle Saturday and Sunday.

“He’s doing great,” Kiffin said of the 6-6, 285-pound Tuerk. “Obviously, that’s a long, long ways to go there, but I think he’s going to be a really good player wherever he ends up.”
