The University of Southern California – led by its traditional strength in swimming (10 medals) and track-and-field (6) – finished atop CollegeSports360′s exclusive “college medal board” for the 2012 Olympics with 25 total medals (12 gold, 9 silver & 4 bronze).
“It just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense,” Kiffin said later. “I understand it’s competitive. I understand they get frustrated…(But) we’re on the same team. That was the first time we’ve had it in this camp, so we discussed it. Hopefully, that will be the last time.”
Pullard said he was on an “emotional high” during the drills and thought most of his teammates were, too. Lee said it was a way to forget about the fatigue and soreness that comes with camp.
“Everybody’s body is tired,” Lee said. “That was a way to boost up everybody’s energy; I bet you nobody felt pain after that.”
Finally, the fact is that the USC campus area and the regions surrounding the campus are probably just as safe (if not safer) than UCLA. The reputation of the region has probably ensured tighter security lines and patrol cars monitoring the campus region, and the result is a much better look (ignoring liquor and drug offenses because those happen everywhere and are generally self-perpetuated offenses by students).
