Saturday’s practice means two-a-days for the men of Troy, and they started the sixth day of camp bright and early, at 9:15. This practice featured a lot of experimenting with the defense, with a few players testing their skills at different positions.
Here’s a look at the first have of two-a-days for the Trojans:
Best play of the morning: Matt Barkley heaved a deep ball to Robert Woods, who was one on one with a linebacker. A few plays later, Barkley connected with Marqise Lee on another long pass down the left sideline. It would seem that Barkley and his favorite targets are already getting back in sync.
Hayes Pullard played a few snaps at middle linebacker, something he began when Lamar Dawson came off the field early in the week with a minor ankle tweak. Josh Shaw, a safety, also got a few reps at cornerback, which he is doing until he is considered healthy enough by Kiffin to go back to his true position. CB Brian Bachaum, who was sidelined with a possible concussion, came back to practice today.
Greg Townsend Jr. continues to get an extended look at left defensive end, the position that needs to be filled in the absence of Devon Kennard.
LT Aundrey Walker has yet to return to practice, as he suffered a wrist injury earlier this week.
The coaching staff was not available to the media after the morning practice, but we can expect quips from Lane Kiffin about the team during the afternoon session. Fall camp resumes at 3:15 p.m.
