The Trojans went to work in the heat again on Thursday when fall camp resumed at 3:15. No major developments this early in the game, but there were some big hits and an exciting bit of progress for WR Robert Woods.
Here are the highlights from Day 4′s action:
Thursday afternoon, UCLA Coach Jim made a comment to the Roger Lodge radio show, in response to a question about his recruiting pitch. Mora said, “We don’t have murders one block off our campus,” which many people inferred to be a cheap shot at USC and its surrounding neighborhood. To make matters worse, two Chinese students were killed off campus on April 11. Kiffin was asked after practice today if safety near USC’s campus is a concern with recruits, and he said, “It only comes up when opposing coaches bring it up.” He continued to say, “I don’t really think that’s something to joke about. That’s all I got to say about that.”
Robert Woods apparently showed glimpses of his 2011 self, and Kiffin even said that this is the best Woods has looked since last November. This bodes well for the progression of his healing ankle.
LT Aundrey Walker was out and had a brace on his right wrist. WR Robert Woods looked a lot like his old self.“It feels good to be back,” Woods said.
LB Lamar Dawson laid a big hit on new Trojan, Silas Redd, and the defensive players on sideline shouted “Welcome to SC!”
Kiffin said redshirt sophomore OLB Hayes Pullard will spend some time learning the mike linebacker position in camp, so he will play some snaps there just in case.
Fall Camp gets back in action Friday, at 6 pm. in the Coliseum. Still no word on if this practice will be open to the public.
