Jason Hatcher is the 9th ranked defensive end in the Class of 2013, and a 4-star recruit that is considering USC, Louisville, Florida and Tennessee. The Kentucky native is set to announce his decision on where he’ll play his college ball today at 4pm Pacific, roughly three weeks since declaring the Trojans to be his leader.
Family has been noted as a key issue for Hatcher and his decision, with pressure to stay local. However, with the No. 1 class that Lane Kiffin is building, the prospects of going to USC and competing for National Championships with extremely talented, yet small recruiting classes, is intriguing and a reason for the 6-foot-2 defensive end to leave Louisville and head west.
Hatcher is an explosive player, so much so that his acceleration at The Opening really turned the heads of scouts, given his 4.06 shuttle time, the fifth best time overall. As a defensive end, he could fit perfectly into USC’s class, with fellow 2013 commits on the defensive line that inlcude Kylie Fitts, Kenny Bigelow and Eddie Vanderdoes.
If the Trojans end up landing Hatcher, he’ll be the second commit that Kiffin has picked up with heavy Tennessee ties a two-week span, which can’t bode well for hearts in Knoxville. Jalen Ramsey, who committed on July 17th to USC, is the top-ranked player in the state of Tennessee, while Hatcher is listed as the second best recruit in Kentucky.
His commitment will be streamed live on Rivals.com from Louisville at 4pm Pacific.
