REPORT: Penn State RB Redd Met With USC Thursday

Per ESPN, Penn State Running Back Silas Redd met with USC head coach Lane Kiffin in Connecticut on Thursday. The two reportedly talked for three hours and it “went really well,” a source close to the situation told ESPN.

Redd was originally scheduled to report to Big 10 Media Day Thursday morning, but the conference pulled the plug on Penn State players attending in the wake of the sanctions.

ESPN reporter Joe Schad tweeted a series of updates about Redd and USC, including that Kiffin laid out a powerpoint with a series of clips about how he would fit into USC’s system. Schad also reports that Kiffin told Redd that he would be warmly embraced as a teammate by QB Matt Barkley and Robert Woods:

Redd may take a trip to California on Saturday, says ESPN. He is also potentially going to make a statement of his intentions to transfer or to stay at Penn State, as early as Monday. At the time of the meeting with Kiffin, Penn State Coach Bill O’Brien was speaking at Media Day, and did not have an update on the situation.

Redd is reportedly expressing much interest in USC, as it is perceived that he has the greatest shot at winning a national title with the Trojans.
