On Friday afternoon, cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III tweeted his top 5 college interests, and surprisingly, USC was not listed:

Surprising because on July 11, the Tampa, FL native had listed USC as his favorite:

On Twitter, he regularly engaged in conversations with other USC commits, who actively tried to convince him to join the Trojan class of 2013. He tweeted about wearing his USC gear proudly, raved about his visit to USC, and seemed to have developed good relationships with the said Trojan commits. He was especially communicative with Nelson Agholor, a wide receiver also out of Tampa. Apparently, between now and then Hargreaves has changed his mind.
On July 16, USC picked up another cornerback to join Chris Hawkins in the secondary, Jalen Ramsey. It’s possible that Hargreaves felt that USC would be stacked at the position with Ramsey’s commit, and as such demoted the Trojans from his list of favorites. On Thursday, we also told you about Cole Luke, another corner who has USC in his top 4. Hargreaves’ sudden lack of interest in USC could entice Luke to make his move and give his commitment to the Trojans, if they end up being his leader in light of this recent development.
Hargreaves is considered the No. 2 cornerback in his class, and the No. 9 player overall in the country according to Rivals.com. Hargreaves has yet to say why he dropped USC from his list of schools and he likely will not, as his decision on USC could change between now and National Signing Day.
For now though, it looks as if USC will be holding on to both of its final scholarships for a little while longer.
