Earlier this week, Eddie Vanderdoes released his top 10 list of schools, which included a host of Pac-12 schools and USC. Today, via ESPN’s We Are SC at Nike’s The Opening, Vanderdoes confirmed a long-speculated unofficial visit to USC.

With Vanderdoes taking an unofficial to USC, the Trojans’ posititioning with Vanderdoes is starting to look better. Add in the fact that he’s rooming with USC commit Michael Hutchings at The Opening, and the Trojans’ stock in the market for the big defensive lineman keeps rising.
Vanderdoes’s ability to play both defensive end and tackle make him a very valuable commodity in the recruiting world, and when you consider that Oregon is a major player for his services, the coup that the Trojans could get in Vanderdoes would be monumental.
The prospects of having both Kenny Bigelow and Eddie Vanderdoes on the same line sounds just unfair for opposing offensive lines, but the Trojans will still need to gain enough traction with Vanderdoes to get him to schedule another unofficial visit during the fall.
So far, Vanderdoes plans to take official visits to Oregon, LSU, Nebraska and Penn State. Also, keep in mind that taking officials to schools geographically farther makes more sense, considering that Vanderdoes is just an eight hour drive from the USC campus. Thus, it is more financially feasible for an unofficial visit to be made to USC than Penn State, given the travel costs involved.
