Mar 29, 2012; New Orleans, LA, USA; NCAA president Mark Emmert speaks at a press conference in preparation for the 2012 Final Four of the division I men
According to @SportsbyBrooks, a writer for FoxSports.com, there could be some changes coming to the face of the NCAA:
SportsbyBrooks Twitter Exclusive 1: SbB has learned Mark Emmert is considering leaving his position as NCAA President.
— SPORTSbyBROOKS (@SPORTSbyBROOKS) June 7, 2012
SportsbyBrooks Twitter Exclusive 2: Emmert has recently discussed returning to LSU, where he previously served as Chancellor.

SportsbyBrooks Twitter Exclusive 3: Emmert & reps of LSU’s interests have discussed post combining President & Chancellor powers and pay.

But just just a few hours after those tweets were posted, Joe Schad of ESPN apparently spoke with Mark Emmert, who had this to say:
Mark Emmert on if he’s considered leaving NCAA: “That’s complete nonsense.”
— Joe Schad (@schadjoe) June 7, 2012
So there’s that.
This could very well be just a rumor, or it could be Emmert trying to deflect until a resolution is actually achieved and they find a replacement if he is indeed leaving. He wouldn’t be the first person in a position of power in NCAA sports to be like, “Guys, I totally am not leaving, this is nonsense!” to turn around a week later and be like, “So uh, ‘member when I said I wasn’t going anywhere? Well…”
For now, taking either of these tweets with a grain of salt is probably the best until we get more word of what it going on.
But let me be the first to tell you that should Emmert step down from is position as commissioner…it will basically be the second coming of Christ at USC and everyone in Trojan Nation will rejoice. Being that he was the person that doled out USC’s completely egregious violations, there is not a single fan of the Trojans who would be sad to see him go. In the mean time, we will keep following this story and provide updates as it plays out.
