USC Basketball: Former Tennessee Vol Renaldo Woolridge Visiting USC

First Lane Kiffin and Ed Orgeron, then Nickell Robey and Tee Martin(indirectly) came from Tennesssee. The next in line in coming from Knoxville to USC? It could be basketball transfer Renaldo Woolridge, as he’s been reported to be on the USC campus this afternoon, as tweeted by Pedro Moura.

Woolridge has one year of eligibilty left, and the Trojans will be battling with Washington for his services, as quoted below by Mark Knight of The Husky Haul.

Renaldo Woolridge- A transfer out of Tennessee has been granted a medical redshirt and will only have one year to play but can come in and play right away. He is a big man that can shoot outside but also can go inside. He is listed at 6’8 and has had some inconsistent success at Tennessee but his injury derailed him. As far as I know the Huskies and him aren’t in any communication but he would be a fit- can play right away, can play up-tempo, and plays inside and out. USC is one school that has been known to be in contact with him. He is originally from the Los Angeles area.

With Woolridge being from the LA area, the Trojans may have an edge in getting him, despite a guy like Dewayne Dedmon being in his way. Woolridge started four games for the Volunteers this past season, averaging 3.3 rebounds per game in just 13.6 minutes on the floor. Rebounding was the key for the Trojans in 2011-12, as they got out-rebounded just about every game, including being out-worked 46-17 in a game in Seattle against Washington.

One more note on Woolridge however, is that he’s rapper, straight out of Sherman Oaks, by way of Knoxville. His 2010 song entitled “Never Leave You Like Kiffin” was a big hit in Knoxville, as you would expect. Here’s to hoping that Kevin O’Neill never mentions Woolridge’s musical repitorie to Lane Kiffin. Enjoy!
